Jeanette Tran, Contributing Writer
Jeanette started riding in 2005 after her car was stolen in San Diego, where she was attending school. After being introduced to the back roads of San Diego, she took off riding and never looked back. Now back home in the Bay Area, she continues to explore all that the off-beaten paths have to offer and looks forward to discovering more and more adventures with her bikes every day.

When having gas is a good thing...
As I am sitting in my car on the way home from work, stuck in some pretty heavy evening traffic, the orange gas light taunts me.

Time to hit the road...
Finding that perfect roommates is always a tricky thing and I just so happen to have the worse luck with them. About three months ago I was looking for a place to move into, and ended up debating between two different places that was available at the time.

All work, no ride ... boggles the mind
It's time to ring in the New Year with some riding! Or that is what I had hoped for...instead I am swamped with work and seeing nothing but my desk and computer screen all almost 7 days a week.

Firstgear Women's Monarch Jacket
After moving back to the Bay Area, I really wanted to purchase a nice cold weather riding jacket. I searched for such a long time, and I have finally been able to find it, and not to mention at a great price.

Wind Blows
After stuffing myself with a good helping of turkey and the best homemade pumpkin cheesecake ever (thanks sis!) it was time to pack and load up to go to the track! Track days after Thanksgiving just give more reasons to give thanks.

Gratitude For the Biker Attitude
In the spirit of Thanksgiving this month, I wanted to use this article to express how grateful I am for my friends in the motorcycling world. I have never seen or known a greater group of people than the group of friends I have made over the last three years I have been riding.

Moto Tricks for Treats, Anyone?
This past Halloween I was really excited to dress up and run amuck around town in a costume. It was not until a few days before Halloween that my friends brought to my attention that there was a possibility of combining that passion for dressing up and my passion for riding all into one!

Flat out of luck,,,?
After my last fiasco with the bike, it took a week before it was all put together again in tip-top running condition. (Many thanks to my friend(s) for pulling through and helping me out on this one).

Burning the midnight (motor) oil
So the first chance that I got, my bike ended up over at a friend's garage and a few of us started to pull that thing apart. (Of course, do not try this at home on your own unless you know what you are doing.)

A Bike with a Broken Heart
So I picked up my bike from my friend's garage on Friday night, and I was very excited because this was going to be the first time I was going to really ride it.

Say Hello to Scarlet!
I now have a lovely new-to-me bike sitting in the garage! I am so excited to have a set of 2 wheels again, and I cannot stop thinking about all of the rides and adventures I have to look forward to.

The Widthdrawal
So my total count of motorcycles has gone from four to one. I still cannot believe that I have gone from owning three motorcycles and a dirt bike all at once, to now having just the dirt bike. For one reason or another I ended up selling all of my road bikes, and now I am craving to ride once again.

Young and Dangerous
Not only does being a rider myself make me more aware of other motorcyclist while I am in my car, but it also seems to spread to my friends and family as well. It is nice to know that they are becoming more aware of motorcyclist and looking out for them while making lane changes and just while driving in general.

A Risk Worth Fighting For
A few days ago I found out that one of the riders on the forums that I frequent was in a terrible motorcycle accident. She was fortunate to have survived the accident, but the past few days have been a struggle... It is always painful to hear about riders who are involved in accidents, but this one in particular caused a tidal wave effect throughout the motorcycle community.

Dirty Girl Addiction
"What goes up, must come down." "When it rain, it pours." My first day dirt riding was the epitome of those phrases combined. Since I have been riding about three years now, I assumed that I would have enough know how to be able to successfully ride my dirt bike for the first time.

Adding it up: The Cost of Adrenaline
So the thought crossed my mind as to how much adrenaline would cost if we put a price to it. Despite the fact that motorcycle riding is an expensive hobby I still do it for that thrill and rush of excitement when I hop on my bike. So what about trying out other extreme sports?

For Sale: Female Owned...
A friend of mine recently had her bike put up for sale on the local forums, and the ad itself seemed simple enough, so it surprised me when someone started a nice ranting thread shortly after the ad was posted in regards to the phrase "Female Owned.

Hypermotard demo ride at the '09 Sea Otter Classic
This past weekend I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to ride out to Laguna Seca to test ride a Ducati Hypermotard. Unfortunately, it was not a demo ride around the track, but it was still an unforgettable experience.

Can't Believe You're Really Gone
In this economic slump, dramatic times call for drastic measures, but who would have thought I would actually sell one of my children for some spending money. Okay, so it is not really my child, but still...

Raining Memories
Next time you see rain, try giving into your adventurous side and take the bike out for a spin! (Be safe about it, of course) Either that, or attempting to pull your bike inside the house for a little cuddle wouldn't hurt either.

Getting Around that Mental Roadblock
My whole body was itching to jump on my bike and (as corny as this sounds) take off riding into the sunset on some random back roads. When I told him that, he asked me "Why not? What is stopping you?" and I found myself explaining to him that I do not go and jump on my bike for evening solo rides because I'm a girl.

More than Just Sugar and Spice
Seeing as to how this is my first contribution to SMR, I thought it would be fitting to give a short introduction for myself and point out a few obvious things. Yes, I am a girl. And yes, I ride motorcycles. After riding for a few years now, it still never ceases to amaze me the responses that I get when people see me with my motorcycle.
